Galapagos Islands

26th of January 2009

Location: St. Cruse island, Galapagos Islands
Music: volvera, volvera...
Mood: happy :)

Touch down Galapagos Islands! I came to Baltra Island from Quito and then took a ferryboat to St. Cruse (I guess :) ).

I write this post because I literally made a mistake while shifting time zones :). I planned to float away to Isabella islands today. I was supposed to be there at 13:30. I came by the arranged time but a Indian lady said me to try again one hour later or literally: “chico, it’s only 12:30” :))). I realized that I didn’t change my watches to the local time zone.  I was lucky she didn’t tell me “it’s 14:30, and your boat is gone” :) I had such an unforgettable experience in India when I missed my flight :)

Galapagos Islands… I confidently said “fuck Quito and its mountains” when I left the aircraft, saw blue sky, and felt the heat with all of my skin :)))). That was one more situation when I understood that I belong on the sea. That was the time when I felt myself in my element! Oh, by the way I spent the last night in Quito in $7/night hotel :) This is my current record of the cheapest stay during the whole journey :). So that was a room on the first floor without any heat there. I got washed by the rain and felt terribly cold that night so I went to bed in my clothes! Well, I actually only took off my shoes… Then I took cover with my jacket while wearing wet jeans and other stuff since I was too lazy to take them off!

On the contrary, last night I took cover with a sheet only to protect myself from the mosquitoes :)
Yesterday I went to Tortuga Bay. I didn’t see any turtles but I took pictures of tons of different iguanas… You know, you walk down the beach and see huge beast similar to a dragon here and there… In the beginning they didn’t allow me to relax but then I got used to them :). Oh, I also saw lots of unfamiliar flying insects… creepy and unusual :). I’ve to confess that local beach is now in my top-3 ones :) besides Thai Pipile and Cuban Cayo Coco since the sand there was as white and tiny as the one in a hourglass.

Wow guys! I need to run in order not to loose my barge :)
